Backdrops vs. Floral Walls, Which Fits Your Reception

February 9, 2026 · 4 min read · Toronto

Champagne and ivory floral wall behind a sweetheart table

A backdrop is the single biggest piece of decor most guests will see. Choose it well and the room follows. Choose it loud and the room fights it. Here is how we help couples pick.

Floral walls work hardest for entrance moments and photographs. They are showy on purpose. A floral wall behind a sweetheart table can be beautiful, but it also competes with the bride and groom in every photograph.

Draped backdrops are quieter and very flattering for sweetheart tables. Soft silks in cream, blush, or champagne with a small floral cluster at the top read elegant from across the room and gorgeous up close.

Hybrid backdrops give you the best of both. A draped base with a partial floral asymmetric across the top corner gives texture without overwhelming. This is our most requested style for receptions in Toronto and the GTA.

A few practical notes. Floral walls need a sturdy backing and access to a power outlet if lit. Drapery needs ceiling clearance and a clean wall. Hybrids can hide cables, but the wall behind still matters.

If you are torn between the two, send us a photo of the room you have booked and tell us what you want guests to feel when they walk in. We will sketch an option that fits.
