Anniversary Surprise Decor, Recreating the Wedding
December 15, 2025 · 4 min read · Toronto
Anniversary surprises are some of the most emotional jobs we do. The couple gets to relive their wedding day in a smaller, more intimate setting, often with the same colours and florals. Here is how we approach them.
Start with the original wedding photos. The most touching anniversary setups are visual references to the original day. If we can see what their wedding looked like, we can pull the palette, the floral choices, and the signature pieces.
Scale down. A wedding for 200 guests does not translate to a dinner for 12. Pick one or two hero elements (the entrance arch, the sweetheart table backdrop) and let the rest of the room support those.
Add personal references. A framed wedding photo, the date in script lettering, a recreation of the first dance song lyric, all add layers without adding cost. These details photograph beautifully and matter most.
Light it warmly. Anniversary dinners almost always happen at night, in a restaurant private room or at home. Warm uplights, candles on every surface, and avoid overhead fluorescents at all costs.
Who coordinates with us. Usually the kids or the partner planning the surprise. We work with whoever is coordinating, and we keep the bride and groom (or partners) entirely in the dark until the reveal.
If you are planning a 10th, 25th, 40th, or 50th anniversary surprise in Toronto, the GTA, or the Golden Horseshoe, send us the original wedding photos and the date you want to set up. We will design a recreation that lives up to the original.
